SCRAP YARD

Our process starts at the scrap yard, where the scrap is sorted according to instructions received from the mill each morning. A mix of regular, heavy, automotive scrap and pig iron is prepared in the baskets.

STEEL MELT SHOP

ELECTRIC ARC FURNACE

The next step of our process is the melting and alloying of the scrap. The carefully chosen scrap mix is first melted in our 70 ton, eccentric bottom tapping type EAF. The melt is then transferred to one of our two ladle furnaces for alloying. Finally, the ladle is then vacuum degassed one of our two VD units.

Electric arc furnace (eccentrical bottom tapping method) equipped with water jackets, oxy-gas burners, water cooled electrodes, scrap preheating system and automatic material addition system.

CASTING SHOP

The molten steel is then sent over to one of the three casting halls. According to grade and customer requirements the steel is cast as ingots, billets or blooms.

The rolling process is next. We currently have two rolling mills designated as “Medium Section” and “Large Section”, according to the size range they output.

Our conditioning lines are where we straighten, shot-blast & cut our products to length, as well as, where we conduct our non-destructive testing.

HEAT TREATMENT LINES

When our customers require, our factory is fully capable of all the most common heat treatment options, including quenching and tempering.

3 quenching and tempering lines with a total capacity of 85.000 tons / year

2 heat treatment furnaces with a total capacity of 110.000 tons / year for applications such as softening, normalizing, Spherodizing and various types of Annealing.

Asil Çelik has extensive experience in heat treatment processes and works closely with customers to adjust sensitive parameters in order to reach optimal steel properties.

LABORATORIES

The final step before a product can be shipped is at our lab, where samples of the material are exhaustively tested, with the most up to date machinery available.
